Athena Rx Home Pharmacy has developed the Partnership for Care program to help address the need for patient education. The Partnership for Care program is designed to apply the professional knowledge of pharmacists to the management of drug therapies for patients with neurological conditions. In doing so, patients will become more knowledgeable about their disease and take a more active role in managing their drug therapies.

The Athena Rx Home Pharmacy team completed an intensive initial training program that will cover the areas of Parkinson's disease (PD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Each pharmacist has a list of support organizations located in their area. They will contact the chapter leaders, and the support group leaders, in order to introduce themselves and the program. They will schedule presentations to the individual support groups and be available to answer medication-related questions from patients.

Athena Rx Home Pharmacy has a unique opportunity with the Partnership For Care program to create an open and ongoing dialogue with patients living with Parkinson's disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Multiple Sclerosis. Utilizing highly trained pharmacists with excellent communication skills, Athena Rx Home Pharmacy will provide patient education at the local support group level to empower patients to take an active role in discussing drug regimen alternatives with their physicians.
