Eligible Population
  • Patients with early diagnosed ALS and have one or more of the following signs and symptoms: muscle weakness, muscle twitching, loss of muscle mass, slurred speech, swallowing difficulty, shortness of breath, or abnormal reflexes.
  • Healthy controls

Study Purpose/Goals
To determine whether surface electromyography is a valid tool for ALS diagnosis and tracking of disease progression

Procedures/Participation
  • 1-hour study visit in Miami (# of visits may vary) including:
    • Medical history review
    • Collection of demographic information
    • ALSFRS-R
    • Surface EMG
